Error codes for Vaillant gas boiler - designation of icons, what to do, how to troubleshoot in combed double-circuit and other models

It’s good when gas equipment is capable of self-diagnosis. Errors in the Vailant boiler indicate where to look for a breakdown. If you want to figure out the causes of the malfunction yourself, then study the meaning of the symbols on the display. And we will tell you how to fix the situation without calling a specialist.

Gas boiler Vailant: operating instructions

At the same time, double-circuit boilers do not operate in heating and water heating modes. By default they work for heating. But when the hot water tap opens, the boiler switches to heating mode. It is worth knowing that water is heated in limited quantities - for domestic needs. The boiler switches to heating mode automatically after the hot water tap is closed.

Experts strongly do not recommend installing a double-circuit wall-mounted gas boiler Vailant yourself. Errors in installation will lead to the fact that it will not meet your expectations. Most of the complaints made by users are based on improper operation and errors during installation. Problems can occur due to poor quality of gas and energy supply, which is not uncommon in our country.

If you are using a Vailant gas boiler, the instructions for it are very simple and understandable; each malfunction or malfunction is indicated by a specific code that is displayed on the control panel monitor. Some problems can be fixed on your own, while others will require calling a professional.

Advantages

Thanks to the symbiosis of tradition and modern technology, Vailant heating boilers have received a number of advantageous qualities.

Advantages:

  • quality confirmed by certificates and international awards;
  • silent operation of installations;
  • energy efficiency of 91% and higher (Vaillant condensing boiler has an efficiency of up to 109% compared to a traditional one);
  • environmental friendliness (reduced emissions into the atmosphere);
  • safety through the use of advanced automation: control of pressure, pump and other elements;
  • protection against freezing and jamming;
  • systematic - the ideal compatibility of Vaillant devices with each other allows them to be assembled into a single effective system of any scale;
  • discreet, laconic design will fit into any interior;
  • developed network of service centers;
  • simple installation and maintenance;
  • comfortable control using a controller or mobile application.

Flaws

The main disadvantage of Vailant equipment is its high cost compared to similar domestic and imported equipment.

Decoding

Error F27 informs about a false flame. The electronic board records the combustion process after sending a command to the valve to block the channel. Knowing the composition of the control circuit, it is easy to outline the circle of “suspects”: ionization sensor, gas valve, control unit of the Vaillant boiler.

Button to reset error F37 for boilers

The “behavior” of electronics is often unpredictable. Therefore, for a number of codes from the fault table, the reasons are similar. When troubleshooting error f27 Vaillant, it is recommended to follow the following algorithm.

First steps

Parasitic (induced, extraneous, false) signals are formed when the electronics of the Vailant boiler malfunction.

Restart the heating unit. If error f27 Vaillant is the result of a power surge, it will be removed.

Check Uc value

. For stable operation, Vaillant needs to be provided with ~230. Imported equipment reacts to deviations in voltage parameters (f, U), for this reason it often produces errors.

For owners of facilities where such situations are not uncommon (power line breaks, problems at a substation), the optimal solution is a UPS. The units are available in different configurations (with built-in batteries or external ones) and are capable of ensuring stable operation of the boiler on batteries for a long time.

Assess the reliability of grounding. Checking the circuit by inspection will not give a real picture. It is easy to verify the quality of the grounding of the Vailant boiler by checking the presence of potential on the metal of the heating unit with an indicator screwdriver - the glow will indicate the cause of error f27.

The problem with stray currents and false codes is solved by installing a dielectric coupling on the gas main in front of the Vaillant.

What do the error codes mean?

In many cases, there is no need to disassemble the device yourself or guess what the problem is. Error codes provide all the necessary information to the consumer. But you definitely need to know them. A symbol starting with S indicates a certain status of the device. And codes starting with F indicate certain failures.

When you see this or that conditioned signal for the first time, you should not be afraid. You need to try rebooting the electronics. Only when the same code appears again do you need to take special measures. F0, as well as F71, indicates that the circuit supplying the thermal sensor that measures the temperature of the coolant is broken.

You need to find out things like:

  • Is the sensor itself operational?
  • is the plug contact good?
  • Is the wiring reliable?

F1 demonstrates that the temperature meter on the return line has broken. F2 says that the thermal fill sensor is malfunctioning. When the F3 signal appears, it is easy to understand that the circuit of the same sensor, but already responsible for controlling the drive, is damaged. Error F5 can only be seen in Atmo wall-mounted boilers, and it means that the connection with the external smoke removal indicator has disappeared. Code #6 states that there is a problem with the wiring of the internal sensor located in the tap.

Using code No. 10, specialists identify short circuits in the supply thermistors. F11, F13 show the same status, but only for the return thermistor and hot start measuring device respectively. A closed external detector for gaseous products is characterized by two errors at once - F15 and F16. Code F20 indicates that the system is malfunctioning due to excessive heating. But F22 talks about another point - there is not enough water. A similar picture is indicated by code F23, which is often associated with malfunction of sensors, pumps, or low performance.

Signal No. 24 indicates that not only the coolant level has decreased, but its heating has also increased significantly and the pressure has decreased. F26 means that there is a failure in the gas fittings. You should also suspect an error in connecting the servomotor. F27 is displayed if a flame is detected when the fuel valve is closed. More serious than F28, this code appears when it is impossible to start the burner.

You will have to control the meter, fittings, pressure measuring relay, and the main module.

F29 is displayed when the fire goes out due to interruptions in the gas supply. All that remains is to wait for his approach to be restored. If the wait is prolonged, you will have to contact the service responsible for the supply of blue fuel. It is also useful to check whether the boiler is properly grounded. Only in condensing boilers does error F32, F37 occur. It reports that the fan does not rotate as it should at a particular moment (other models demonstrate this with code F38).

The TurboTEC model has a special error not found in other devices - No. 33. It is easy to find out from it that the relay that measures the pressure does not work. The F36 signal arrives when the draft meter detects its weakness and the penetration of combustion gases into the boiler room. And F42 is displayed if the resistor responsible for conditional coding has broken down. When signal No. 49 arrives, you need to check the status of the eBus information bus.

Code 53 indicates an incorrect setting of the combustion process. At signal 54, you need to start eliminating malfunctions in the fuel supply, in this case it is worth sequentially opening the valve, increasing the pressure and visually assessing the serviceability of the shut-off valves. Code 56 indicates a malfunction of the main parts of the fuel burning unit. If connecting the plug does not solve the problem, you need to check the fittings. And code 57 is issued when setting the “Comfort” mode with an incorrect adjustment. It is also worth suspecting that the ignition electrode has become corroded.

If the cleaned parts continue to perform poorly, you will have to install a completely new part.

F61 may illustrate either a shorted cable, an open circuit, or a fuel valve failure. The signal F62 determines the delayed shutdown of the valve caused by poor response of the control electrode. The display of the number 63 indicates a so-called EEPROM failure, which can only be repaired by service centers. Violations shown by numbers 64 and 67 indicate that the electronic “stuffing” of the boiler is damaged or the sensors have gone wrong. A relatively minor problem is error 70, which occurs when the step of entering the code for a new boiler is skipped after installing a replacement display and electronic components.

The F72 index allows you to recognize violations in the thermal line sensors responsible for the supply or located on the return circuit. F75, as it were, notifies the boiler owners that even starting the pump does not help raise the pressure. You will have to release the air accumulated in the system, adjust the settings of the bypasses and expansion tanks. F35 is a kind of “partner” of the 36th error.

This error appears when the following malfunctions occur:

  • if the air or gas outlet is blocked;
  • when, due to weather conditions or due to structural defects, traction is impaired;
  • with abnormal ventilation;
  • when the boiler room overheats;
  • if the boiler is too close to the wall.

F76 lights up on the display when the primary heatsink is too hot. And F77 indicates that the diverter valve or pump responsible for condensation is working too poorly. F51 signals about the overturning of the draft and obviously incorrect operation of the chimney. Simultaneously appearing signals 80 and 91 immediately indicate a short circuit in the secondary radiator sensor. If errors 81 and 91 are combined, there is a malfunction of the loading pump.

You can fix this error by doing the following:

  • release air;
  • check for violations of cables, sensors and impellers;
  • Find out if the heat exchanger is dirty and clean it if necessary.

F83 notifies about an incorrect measurement made by thermistors on the receiving and return lines. Simply add coolant or adjust the placement of the thermistor. Codes 84 and 85 also indicate incorrect information from thermistors, but problems need to be resolved differently - by swapping blocks or eliminating other installation defects. Deformation F93 demonstrates that combustion is not occurring properly. When cleaning the Venturi nozzle does not help, you need to change the nozzle to a more correct device. The Con defect indicates that the exchange of information with the control equipment is disrupted and you will have to contact a service organization.

The Fxx code talks about software failures; 5ER is not so much an error in the usual sense of the word as a reminder of the need for maintenance.

Vaillant boilers can also produce intermediate messages that are not errors. Thus, S0–S8 tell consumers about the running heating mode. When the boiler prepares hot water, signals S10–S17 are shown on the display.

Other status signs are as follows:

  • 30 – external thermostat blocked heating;
  • 31 – the system has been switched to summer format and cannot heat the house;
  • 33 – frost protection is working, the system is blocked for 1/3 hour.

It happens that the heating seems to be running, but the regulator instructs the boiler to operate at +20 degrees. In this case, signal 36 is displayed on the screen. But code 41 says that the nominal pressure is developing too high inside. S42 can be displayed when the burner is not working, when the valve on the outlet is triggered or the condensation pump is damaged. S51 is a condition where combustion gases enter the room.

Error 53 is detected when there is a lack of water. The boiler will correct the situation or wait for help from the owner in this within 150 seconds. S54 means the system waits for 20 minutes for action. There is no cause for alarm when status S98, 96 or 97 appears, since these are signs of operation in test mode.

The occurrence of all of these problems can be minimized by promptly inspecting the boiler and carrying out maintenance.

Connecting a room thermostat

A room thermostat is a device that controls the temperature in a room and regulates the heating system accordingly.

Using this device allows you to save about 20% on heating. This effect is achieved through more rapid adjustment of the system temperature. The boiler's own sensor is guided by the temperature of the coolant.

When it warms up outside, the house becomes too hot, but no changes occur for the boiler system as long as the coolant temperature is within the specified limits.

The room thermostat is guided by the air temperature, so it immediately sends a command to change the heating mode.

To connect the device, the corresponding contacts on the control board are used, connected in normal mode by a special jumper.

Everything you need to know if malfunctions occur with Vailant gas boilers

Gas heating equipment today is most popular in both private homes and apartment buildings. There are quite a lot of manufacturers producing high-quality gas boilers, including the German company Vaillant.

Main characteristics of Vailant products

The Vaillant company produces condensing equipment, gas heaters and gas boilers, both floor-mounted and wall-mounted. The range of boilers is quite large; they are manufactured with one and two circuits. Double-circuit ones are the most common due to their function not only to heat the room, but also to provide hot water supply.

Any double-circuit gas boiler produced by Vailant has the following advantages:

  • It is light in weight and quite compact;
  • Easy to use and safe;
  • Has a large power range;
  • High quality, reliable and durable;
  • Its installation will not take much effort;
  • Has a modern design and control system;
  • It heats the room perfectly and is quite economical.

In addition, each boiler has built-in safety sensors, mostly 3, but in some models there may be more. The first sensor shuts off the gas if the flame suddenly goes out, the second ensures the safe removal of combustion products, and the third controls the temperature regime inside the unit. Each device is also equipped with three lights with different colors on the control panel. The green light is on when the unit is heating water, the yellow light indicates the operation of the gas in the boiler, and the red light indicates any problems.

Despite the high quality and a lot of advantages, there are also disadvantages, among which stand out:

  • We are dependent on electricity;
  • There is no expansion tank;
  • The high price of both the device itself and its components;
  • There is no way to close the control panel, which is not safe if there are children in the house.

The most common malfunctions and their causes

Despite true German quality, like any other equipment, Vailant boilers are subject to various types of failures. If this or that problem does arise, the device informs the owner about it by displaying an alphanumeric code on the LCD display, including a red light, as mentioned above. Each error has its own code.

If you study thematic forums where boiler owners discuss their malfunctions, the most popular queries are:

  1. error with code F22, indicating the absence of water in the device or its shortage. It is worth checking whether the pump is jammed, whether the pump cables are securely connected to the water pressure sensor, look at the sensor itself or at the power of the pump. Possible still weak water circulation;
  2. error with code F28, in which the unit does not start at all. The reasons may be different: the zero and phase are incorrectly connected, the gas is oversaturated with air, the gas pressure level is too low, the control board is broken, the boiler is not properly grounded, a cable break or an error in connecting to the gas pipeline. Some problems can be solved by yourself by looking at the instruction manual. For example, check whether the gas tap is open or change the gas pressure in the boiler settings to 5 mbar;
  3. error with code F29, in which the burner flame constantly goes out, and new attempts to ignite are unsuccessful. The reasons may be: the gas boiler is not grounded correctly, gas supply failures in the gas system itself, problems with the ignition transformer or gas valve. To eliminate this problem, it is worth checking the gas pressure; it may drop too low or see if there is enough air for normal combustion of the fuel;
  4. error with code F36 (Vailant Atmo), in which combustion products come out. This problem may occur due to poor ventilation in the room or poor draft in the chimney, or the temperature in the room is too high. You should also check whether there is sufficient space between the boiler and the wall;
  5. error with code F75, in which the boiler pump works, but the pressure does not rise. There may also be several reasons: breakdown of the pump or water pressure sensor, air getting into the heating system, incorrect connection of the expansion tank or insufficient water pressure. To fix the problem, you can try cleaning the water pressure sensor or you will have to purchase more powerful components.

Possible malfunctions that do not happen so often

If the required error code is not in this list, this means that only a specialist can handle it.

  • F0, F A breakdown occurred in the NTC sensor that controls the temperature on the flow line (F0) or return line (F1). It is necessary to check not only the sensor, but also its cable;
  • F2, F3, F The NTC sensor has malfunctioned. Perhaps the plug is inserted poorly or the sensor or cable itself is broken;
  • F5, F6 (Vailant Atmo). There is a problem with the operation of the sensor, which ensures the safe removal of combustion products. You need to check whether it is connected correctly, or whether the failure occurred due to a broken cable or the sensor itself;
  • F10, F There is a short circuit in the flow (F10) or return (F11) temperature sensor. Check everything described above;
  • F13, F The temperature in the unit has exceeded 130 degrees, and a short circuit has occurred in the hot start sensor. Check everything described above;
  • F15, F16 (Vailant Atmo). A short circuit has occurred in the sensor responsible for removing combustion products. Check everything described above;
  • F The boiler has overheated;
  • F There is not enough water in the device, and the temperature between the flow and return lines is very different. It is worth checking the connection of sensors on both lines, the functionality of the pump and cable or board;
  • F The problem is similar to the previous one - not enough coolant. Check everything the same as in step 8;
  • F The device switched off due to excessively high temperature of the exhaust gases. The NTC sensor, cables and plugs must be checked;
  • F The boiler reports the presence of a flame, although the valve is closed. The reason may be a problem with the flame sensor or magnetic valves;
  • F32 (condensing boilers). Fan speed problems. Most likely, the problem is in itself, but you also need to check the board, cable and sensor;
  • F33 (Vaillant turboTEC). The pressure switch does not close the contact half an hour after the request for heat supply;

Gas Boiler Vaillant turboTEC

  • F The eBus voltage has dropped. Perhaps there is a short circuit in it or it is heavily overloaded;
  • F No control signal is sent to the valves. You need to check the valves, cable and board;
  • F Valve shutdown delay fault. Check if it is leaking gas and if the injectors are clogged;
  • F The electronics unit has overheated. The reason is either external or due to a faulty unit;
  • F Low water pressure. Either the problem is in the sensor itself, or there is a short circuit in it;
  • F High water pressure. The reason is stated above.

How to avoid problems with the Vailant boiler

First of all, before each heating season, you should call specialists for routine maintenance.

You must strictly follow the operating instructions for the device. For example, you need to follow the arrow indicating the pressure in the device - it should be in the middle of the gray strip and under no circumstances go into the red one. Also, the boiler should not operate at its full capacity, as this will cause it to fail faster. Its service life also depends on the quality of the coolant - filters may become clogged. Of course, nothing can be done about the quality of the water, but sometimes you need to check the filters.

Particular attention should be paid to the fact that in no case should you set up or check equipment if you do not have the necessary knowledge and skills, as there is a high risk of damaging the gas boiler or even causing harm to yourself and others. In addition, if the device is under warranty, then if self-diagnosis is unsuccessful, you may lose the opportunity to use the warranty.

Solutions:

  • Problems in the boiler electrical network: reboot the boiler - there is a corresponding button on the panel of Vaillant gas boilers (crossed out flame symbol or RESET designation).
  • Inspection of the shut-off valve: this protection element is installed on the gas pipe and blocks it in the event of a short-term power failure. In everyday life, devices of the “normally closed” type are used: when the valve is activated, manually cock it. “Blue fuel” will begin to flow to the Vaillant boiler, error f29 will disappear.
  • Failures in the gas supply to the house: often the gas supply pressure on the main line decreases and the boiler does not return to operating mode. The check comes down to igniting all the burners on the stove at maximum mode. Flames with a characteristic shade will indicate the absence of problems with the fuel supply, and their intensity and stability will indicate the constancy of the pressure and its normal value.

Checking the air supply channel:

— when drawing air from the room, it is necessary to ensure an intensive inflow under any conditions.

— when the channel is brought out, the head is checked and a mesh is placed on the pipe to prevent dust and small debris from entering the boiler.

If the error appears during periods of change in wind direction, you should change the air duct laying scheme: route the pipe in a different place, cover the head.

— Condensate removal channel: for normal operation of the Vailant boiler, the accumulated liquid must be drained periodically.

The ionization sensor and/or electrode are faulty: if the boiler ignites and a spark passes, the boiler ignites and goes out - this means that the flame control electrode (ionization sensor) “does not see” the flame.

The electrodes often become contaminated with soot and burnt dust, and often it is enough to wipe them with your fingers and the boiler’s operation is restored. If the electrode has not been serviced for a long time, you need to clean its tips with abrasive paper with minimal grain.

The gas valve is clogged/defective: it is not difficult to disassemble it yourself, but it is highly undesirable because:

— Vaillant connectors have miniature latches. Users often break them when removing the valve from the boiler.

— A special lubricant is applied to the rod. Which one exactly is not an idle question.

— You can reset the Vaillant fittings according to the gas pressure at the inlet to the boiler burner.

Malfunction of the modulation coil/ignition transformer: its serviceability can be judged by the absence of a spark between the electrodes and the burner during ignition. If you have experience, you need to test the windings with a multimeter to identify a break.

Electronic board malfunction: go to the menu and look at the symbols on the display: letter S and numbers.

Inspect the board for damage (oxidation, dark areas, moisture, characteristic smell of burnt tracks and modules, remove excess dust); all operations with the board must be carried out using antistatic gloves.

Useful tips

In order not to rack your brains over how to resolve error F28 in the Vailant gas boiler, you must carefully study the instructions before starting to operate the device. It is quite simple and intuitive even for a novice user. Additionally, the device is equipped with a special display, which displays all codes with the name of certain problems.

If any error occurs, you must check its number and read the annotation in the instructions. Some of the problems can be fixed on your own, but in most cases only specialized assistance may be required. To avoid troubles, before each heating season, it is recommended to call a technician who can check the boiler for leaks, as well as for proper performance.

Incorrect pressure in the unit is the most common cause of error F28 in the Vailant gas boiler. What to do in this situation? First of all, experts recommend maintaining the pressure level on the middle gray strip of the sensor. If the arrow moves into the red zone, this indicates that the indicator is decreasing very much. This can seriously affect the operation of the system.

Diagnostics

Each Vailant boiler has a diagnostic system that is part of the electronic unit. Information about the state of the unit is displayed on the LCD display in the form of a code (including about past errors).

Before a specialist arrives, you can evaluate the performance of the device yourself:

  • Check all inlet and outlet connections for leaks (this includes outlets for carbon monoxide, condensate and domestic hot water).
  • Check: there are no contaminants in the reduced pressure chamber.
  • Check all electrical connections: whether the connectors and plugs are tight.
  • Check the condensate drain and siphon for the presence of salt and limestone deposits. If necessary, clean.

Inspect the gas burner - it most often becomes clogged with carbon deposits. The inner walls of working chambers and chimneys also need to be cleaned. There is not a lot of soot in gas equipment, so the user will not have any major difficulties.

Vaillant boiler: error F28

If we talk about this code, it can indicate several malfunctions at once. For example, the cause of this phenomenon may be a breakdown of the gearbox, which is responsible for gas pressure. The meter could also be faulty.

In some situations, the Vailant gas boiler generates error F28 when the gas is oversaturated with air. It is also necessary to monitor your blood pressure. To change these values, you must check the settings yourself.

Some users accidentally close the gas valve, which can also cause an error. In addition, the cable often breaks. The gas magnet can also fail. Additionally, you need to check the ignition transformer and make sure that there is no carbon deposits inside the system.

Most rarely, this error occurs when there is a breakdown in the control board. Therefore, regardless of whether the 24 kW Vailant boiler or another model produces error F28, it is recommended to check some components and make sure that the unit is being operated in the correct mode.

Is it possible to carry out repairs yourself?

Current regulations prohibit self-repair of gas equipment. This point must be taken into account when starting restoration measures. However, there are many ambiguities in this issue - there are other components in the boiler design that are not directly related to gas equipment.

If the secondary heat exchanger or boost fan fails, the gas supply system will not be affected in any way. To solve such problems, you need to call a technician from the service center. He has all the necessary approvals and permits; gas service inspectors will not have any questions.

Another issue to consider is the validity of the warranty agreement. The conditions are quite strict - installation and initial start-up must be carried out by employees of the warranty workshop (service center), routine repairs or maintenance of the boiler must also be carried out by specialists.

Independent intervention in the boiler design is regarded as termination of the warranty agreement at the user’s initiative, and you will no longer have to count on free repairs. Even replacing the plug on the power cord can be considered such an intervention, therefore, in any situation, it is recommended to immediately call a service technician.

If you repair it yourself, the boiler will be removed from the warranty.

If there is no way to contact specialists, you have to act at your own peril and risk. When purchasing a boiler, you must immediately find out where the nearest service center is located and whether there is a possibility of quickly solving possible problems.

If the warranty workshop is located too far away and a technician does not come to your home, it makes no sense to conclude a warranty agreement.

Error f 75 in a Vaillant gas boiler - How to fix error f75 in a Vaillant gas boiler (Vailant)

Vaillant gas heating systems are available in various versions. The most popular are wall-mounted double-circuit boilers Vailant VUW of three series: Turbo FIT, TEC Plus and Pro.

  • Vaillant ecoTECplus control panel
  • Vaillant ecoTECpro control panel
  • Vaillant turboFIT control panel

An analysis of the error tables in their instructions shows the identity of the problems that arise, and for the last two models the instructions are common. The article will help you understand the reasons for incorrect operation or stopping of equipment due to an emergency signal and give recommendations for eliminating them.

Vailant boilers are complex equipment equipped with various components, instruments, and electronics. And if we add “gas” ones, then such heating units pose an increased danger in terms of operation. Therefore, self-correction of errors is possible only within reasonable limits.

Next, the codes are deciphered, the reasons for which a competent user can cope with, especially since some of them are caused by external factors, and not by breakdowns of the Vailant boiler. Solving other problems is the job of a professional.

On a note! Vaillant errors during unstable power supply can be initiated by voltage surges. Eliminated by pressing the “Reset” button. If it doesn't help, you need to look for the reason.

Electrical engineering is called the science of contacts by practitioners. Errors appearing on the Vailant display are generated by the electronic module of the boiler based on information from the corresponding sensors. Troubleshooting should begin by checking the signal lines. What to look for:

Vaillant boiler contact groups

  • breaks or oxidation of wires, lamellas of contact groups;
  • short circuit to the body, to each other;
  • loose fit of plugs in connector sockets;
  • damage to the insulating layer.

Repair practice shows that 85% of boiler errors are caused by precisely these reasons. This means they can be easily eliminated.

The instructions for dual-circuit gas Vaillant VUW TEC are taken as a basis. The symbolism of the codes for other boiler models may differ, but the meaning of the errors and their causes are the same. Knowing this, it is not difficult to find and fix the problem, regardless of the version of the heating installation.

*Error codes for the Vailant Turbo FIT series are indicated in parentheses

Decoding

Error f61 indicates incorrect operation (failure) of the gas valve of the Vailant boiler: violation of valve control. Replacing a unit does not always lead to a positive result - the code is triggered by a number of reasons, and the problem is not necessarily in the main battery: it is more related to the Vaillant electronics. Below is a recommended algorithm of actions that reduces troubleshooting time.

What to do

Step 1

Restart. Error f61, like others, is often caused by instability of the parameters of the power supply network of the Vailant boiler. Press the button and hold for 5 seconds: Reset, “Network”, “On” (depending on the type of unit). Often this action clears the fault code.

Button for resetting error F61 on the control panel of atmoTEC pro, turboTEC pro Vaillant boilers

Connect the Vaillant boiler via a voltage stabilizer

Step 2

Assessing the condition of signal lines. Loss of gas valve control, error f61, may be the result of unreliable contacts, broken wires, or short circuits. Remove the casing from the Vailant boiler, inspect the cable connecting the main battery to the electronic board

Particular attention to the connectors: condensation and oxides cause a break in the control circuit. Detected defects are eliminated independently - the services of a specialist are not needed

Step 3

GK testing. Depending on the type of Vailant boiler, gas fittings differ in design features: number of valves, control voltage values, settings for the type of fuel (main, liquefied). But the user can identify a number of problems when searching for the cause of error f61 on his own.

Replacing the gas valve in a Vaillant boiler

Check what
  • Windings of coils, a stepper motor that controls the second valve. Testing for serviceability involves measuring resistance. In the event of a short circuit, the multimeter will show R = 0, and an open circuit - ∞. Error f61 is also caused by an interturn short circuit, but to diagnose it you need a special device and accurate data on the characteristics of the winding (they are not in the service manual).
  • A gas tube connected to the gas inlet port. “Garbage” in the cavity (according to experience with Vailant boilers) is a common cause of errors, and not only f61. Sludge is applied into it from the main line, passing through the filter grid. Clean it and code 61 will disappear.
  • Internal channels of Vaillant gas fittings. The method for eliminating error f61 is similar - blow it out, remove any trapped fractions from the assembly (graphite chips are often found).

Step 4

Inspection of the electronic board. The ECU controls the operation of the gas valve, and the loss of “visibility” between the components of the Vailant boiler, changes in the voltage values supplied to the main valve coils and the engine are the causes of error f61. Diagnostics are carried out in a workshop, on a bench: different operating modes of the heating unit, emergency situations are simulated, and the response of protection circuits is assessed. To eliminate error f61, you need to inspect the board yourself.

Check the Vaillant boiler control board

What to pay attention to

  • Mechanical damage: cracks, splits of panels, parts bodies.
  • Dark spots, melted areas of the circuit.
  • Breaks, peeling of tracks.
  • Connector condition. Moisture and oxides in the boiler board connectors are the cause of error f61.
  • Condensate. Drops of water on the surface lead to short circuits and Vailant fault codes.
  • Dust. When saturated with vapor, it becomes a conductive layer. Remove it and error f61 will disappear.
  • Relays that close circuits through which control voltages are supplied to the gas valve and stepper motor. There are several of them, and you can “calculate” what you need using the tracks. Error f61 is often associated with burning of the contact group. It can be removed by replacing the corresponding relay. But this advice is for those who have experience in repairing electronic devices.

If you cannot resolve the problem on your own, contact an authorized service organization. When submitting an application, indicate the type of Vailant boiler (inscription on the marking plate), year of manufacture. A more thorough diagnosis of the heating unit is the job of a professional.

How to fix error f22 of a Vaillant gas boiler (Vailant)

Modern heating installations eliminate the need for the user to contact a service organization if a problem occurs after the warranty expires, wasting time and wasting money. The reasons causing error f22 of the Vaillant boiler can be eliminated independently. The article tells you what to do in this situation.

Most common hardware problems

F20/F22/23/24 (F10|F11) – overheating.

Errors occur when the volume of coolant in the system decreases, a sharp increase in temperature, or an exorbitant difference in temperature at the outlet and inlet to the Vaillant.

Recommendation: fill the circuit with water, bringing the pressure to normal (2±0.5 bar). Reset and start up the boiler. Repeated occurrence of the error is evidence of a problem.

Probable Causes

1. Leak. An autonomous circuit is a closed and closed system: natural evaporation of liquid is excluded. Loss of coolant is possible only in the event of mechanical damage or leakage. It is easy to find the problematic section of the route (device) by inspecting the house for signs of dampness, stains and streaks. Leaks rarely occur in the Vailant boiler itself: more often in the joints of pipes or heating radiators.

2. Reduced circulation rate. The coolant moves more slowly, and the boiler burner operates in the specified mode. Hence the overheating and Vaillant's error. What is the reason?

  • Heat exchanger
  • Pipe

Airlock. It is easiest to identify and mitigate such a problem. It is necessary to check all radiators for the degree of heating: a sharp temperature drop in individual sections of the circuit will indicate the “culprit”. Even if there are automatic valves, you should bleed them manually - they often fail due to poor quality water treatment.

Pump. The boiler overheating error is caused by stopping the device or reducing the shaft speed.

Vaillant boiler pump

First of all, the supply voltage and the set speed are checked. Incorrect operation of the Vailant pump may be due to salt deposits on the impeller. It is necessary to dismantle the pumping device, perform partial disassembly and wash it. After starting the boiler, the overheating error disappears.

Heat exchanger. The formation of layers in its cavity is one of the probable reasons. A gradual decrease in the diameter of the channel negatively affects the circulation of liquid, hence the overheating of the Vaillant boiler and the error.

Recommendation: if there is an alternative heat source at the site, the device must be removed and sent for service. Self-cleaning is ineffective, and after starting up, the Vailant boiler may start up again in a month or a month and a half. High-quality maintenance involves filling the cavity of the heat exchange device with an aggressive liquid, leaving it for at least a day, followed by flushing under pressure. This cannot be done on site.

F26 (F07) – problem with gas fittings.

You should ensure the integrity of the wires and the reliability of the contacts. It is not advisable to change it yourself - you also need to configure it correctly.

F27 – flame simulation error.

The probable cause is the ionization sensor: shorted wires, dirty electrode, dampness. If the boiler has been idle for a long time, you need to remove the casing and dry it (with a directed stream of warm air).

F28 (F04) – unsuccessful ignition.

There are many reasons for this error to appear. You can independently check only the flow of gas to the boiler burner, its pressure, the reliability of the signal circuits and grounding. Other defects - in the meter, main filter, Vaillant fittings, transformer, electronic board - must be determined by a specialist.

F29 – boiler malfunction, problem with re-ignition.

Probable causes of errors during autonomous gasification: gearbox failure, icing, LPG production. The remaining faults are identical to F28; they cannot be determined independently.

F33 (F05) – incorrect fan operation.

The error is caused by its breakdown, failure of the flow switch, or a malfunction in the electronic module of the boiler. If the power and signal lines are not damaged, you need to contact a specialist.

F68 – unstable flame.

Probable Causes

  • Unstable pressure in the line.
  • Air leak. If Vaillant runs on LPG from a cylinder group, check all connections.
  • Problem with the boiler ionization sensor. Its contamination may be the cause of error F68: remove carbon deposits.
  • Vaillant boiler gas valve is clogged
  • Debris in gas valve

Everything else is due to incorrect operation of the gas fittings and boiler burner. You can service the nozzles yourself: a vacuum cleaner, a toothbrush. If after this the Vaillant error does not disappear, call a technician.

– Pressures greater than 50 mbar are not detected.

Error f33 vaillant how to fix and what to do?

Occurs only in turbocharged boiler models. The source of the error is the pressure switch in the exhaust pipe. The operating logic of all modern gas boilers is approximately the same. When a request for ignition is received, the control board turns on the fan (smoke exhauster), which creates a vacuum. When the required draft is achieved, the contacts of the differential relay close and thereby transmit a signal to the board to open the gas valve and ignite the burner. Accordingly, if there is no signal from the relay or it is in a closed state after the fan is turned off, the vaillant automation generates error f33.

Vaillant boiler error f33 reasons:

  • The fan does not work (can be checked visually)
  • breakdown of the pressure switch (condensation may accumulate in the tubes, which, flowing into the sensor, renders it unusable;
  • error when installing the exhaust pipe (condensation can also accumulate and flood the relay)
  • clogging of coaxial pipelines, preventing normal air flow
  • pitot tube clogged (accumulated dirt or insects)

You can check the operation of the relay by creating a vacuum yourself through the tube (a characteristic click should occur). It happens that the relay “sticks”, i.e. in normal condition it will be closed, which can be checked with a conventional multimeter. In this case, it will have to be replaced.

It happens that the tubes themselves or the pitot tube are damaged, for example, from exposure to high temperatures.

The slightest change in shape can affect the readings and cause error F33.

It is worth noting that this is a problem with almost all gas boilers. Some manufacturers solve this by installing a special extension (this is what BAXI did) to collect condensate, and some even make heated tubes to evaporate it.

Other malfunctions and solutions

If the reverse draft diode blinks, then either it is faulty, or the combustion products are not completely removed but enter the room. The repair instructions in this case are as follows: first you should clean the chimney, then check the quality of ventilation.

After this, you can replace the backdraft sensor. Initially, during installation, it is important to comply with all safety requirements. Quite often the gas burner becomes clogged and soot is deposited on it. It should be cleaned regularly to ensure full control of the flame level.

Causes of problems

In order for possible reviews of boilers of this brand to be favorable, it is necessary to pay great attention to the prevention of malfunctions and their elimination. It is worth noting that not all problems are indicated by codes; some occur without warning. A situation where the boiler does not turn on at all may arise due to incorrect connection of the “zero” and “phase”.

The problem may also be due to the following:

When there is no hot water at all or the boiler does not heat it well, you need to evaluate the condition of the flow sensor. Sometimes it becomes dirty, the liquid moves, but the automation does not command the fan to blow through the firebox and fan the fire. By releasing water from the hot water supply circuit, the pipes are saturated with air. Following this, you need to sharply open and tighten the water taps in front of the boiler in order to remove dirt from the fan or sensor due to pressure drops. If the pressure rises or falls unpredictably while hot water drips from a cold tap, damage to the secondary heat exchanger may be suspected.

You should also check the following reasons:

Ignition transformer

Failure to start the Vailant boiler is due to the lack of a spark or its insufficient power. If there are no wire defects, the Tr winding is checked with a multimeter: open – R = ∞, short circuit – R = 0. With interturn, the device will show resistance, but if the value does not correspond to the passport data, the spark is weak, insufficient to ignite the burner. Error f29 can be eliminated by replacing the transformer.

Self-repair is possible for a user with specialized education, but it will take time. Error f29 can be eliminated by replacing the Vaillant boiler assembly.

Useful tips

  • With an autonomous gas supply, before the start of the cold season, it is advisable to update the thermal insulation of the outdoor cabinet with cylinders and the head of the gas tank. It is naive to hope that insulation lasts forever.
  • Connect the Vailant boiler to the network via a UPS. Some errors are caused by voltage problems. The stabilizer helps, but as long as there is no break in the line. The power supply is capable of providing autonomous operation of Vailant for several hours: enough to eliminate a power line failure or problems with a backup power source. The UPS includes a stabilization circuit, a group of batteries, and a charger.
  • Clean the heat exchanger housing periodically. Dust accumulation is the cause of error f29. A layer is formed through which combustion products do not completely pass through the fins of the device into the chimney. Partial flow of thermal energy is redirected inside Vailant. In addition to reducing the efficiency of the unit, the temperature under the casing increases. The result is melting of the insulation, deformation of the electronic board, periodic occurrence of errors with an emergency stop of the boiler.

Expert advice

There are some expert tips to consider. In particular, a number of tips concern prevention and initial use of the boiler. Recommendations:

  • the model must meet the needs of the heating system;
  • connection must be made strictly according to the instructions;
  • any small deviations from the operating cycle should be checked immediately;
  • Before the first operational start, diagnostics must be carried out;
  • Equipment installation is carried out by professionals; otherwise, problems may occur during the first operating cycles.

Important! Any type of boiler must receive full maintenance. Otherwise, the work cycle will begin to deteriorate over time.

Most users have questions during operation that only specialists can answer. Also, for every question there is an answer that allows you to solve the problem. Adviсe:

  1. If there is no response to turning on the water and a set of sounds that come from the equipment itself, it is worth checking the gas supply line, as well as the gas meter.
  2. When pressure jumps occur due to the expansion tank, you can simply pump it up.
  3. If the pressure sensor does not work correctly, error F75 appears. To eliminate this, you can simply press the supply tap.
  4. When switching off the equipment and supplying either hot or cold water, it is worth setting the minimum pressure.
  5. If there are delays in switching the boiler from one mode to another and sounds that resemble gurgling, it is necessary to pump out excess air.
  6. In addition to water, you can only use a coolant specially selected for the boiler. There should be no other liquids.
  7. When the equipment stops completely and the panel goes dark, you need to check the fuses.
  8. If the flame icon flashes and does not turn on, you need to clean the filters and check the sensors.
  9. If there is good pressure of cold water, but hot water flows poorly, then you will need to check and replace the heat exchanger.
