Rarely will anyone use this function on an electric boiler for three, at first glance, obvious reasons:

When the boiler switches to the boiler heating mode, the supply temperature increases to 80 degrees. For this reason, it is necessary to turn off the heating supply from the boiler, and direct all the heat to heat the hot water supply.

To do this, you need to install a 3-way mixer, a 220v mixer drive and a boiler sensor (also known as a storage tank loading sensor). The sensor has the original number 0020174087.

If you bought an indirect heating boiler with a built-in thermostat, you can connect it without a boiler sensor. True, some functions will be unavailable, for example, “boiler temperature”, “freeze protection function”, and the adjustment will be rougher.

The boiler sensor, as well as the contacts of the thermostat built into the boiler, are connected to the same connector (X16), but to different contacts. On the connector itself there is a marking indicating which sensor should be connected where.

The boiler sensor 0020174087 is connected to the X16 connector contacts marked “Tank sensor” and “GND”, the boiler thermostat is connected to the “Aquastat”, “GND” contacts.

The 3-way mixer drive is connected to connector X15. There are also markings on the chip itself. Connection to the “LA” and “LB” contacts of the X15 connector depends on which direction you need to “turn” the three-way valve.

It works like this: when operating in heating mode, the three-way valve allows coolant to flow into the circuit of the heating system and heated floor. The boiler maintains the manually set heating temperature or automatically maintains it according to the equithermal mode schedule (if an external temperature sensor is installed). After the water temperature in the boiler drops, the boiler receives a signal from the boiler sensor, transfers the coolant flow through a three-way mixer to the boiler heating circuit and increases the coolant temperature to the maximum.

After the water has reached the set temperature, the boiler switches the 3-way mixer to heating mode and lowers the supply temperature to its previous values.

I note that the boiler power for heating and hot water preparation can be adjusted independently of each other. The boiler power in heating mode is adjusted in point D.000, and the hot water preparation power in point D.077.

The VR40 module is a set of 2 relays with contacts and isolation for connecting additional functions. The module is installed inside the boiler and comes with a set of cables for connecting to the main board. The module is controlled in points D.027 and D 0.028 diagnostic codes.
